President Benigno S. Aquino III honored the distinguished men and women of the Philippine National Police (PNP) who have shown acts of heroism, extraordinary courage and gallantry in action while rendering public service amidst various calamities and dangers that confronted them, during the Araw ng Parangal sa Kapulisan held at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Thirty-eight (38) individuals, including one non-uniformed personnel, were chosen by the police force as recipients of the first-ever awarding rites.  Nineteen awardees came from the Zamboanga Siege, one from the Bohol Earthquake and seven from the Super Typhoon Yolanda Incident.  Meantime, four awardees were from the Anti-Insurgency, one from the Anti-Terrorism, three from the Anti-Illegal Drugs, and three from the Arrest of Wanted Person categories.

In his message, President Aquino lauded the awardees for dedicating their lives in protecting and serving the Filipino people in the face of all adversities that beset the country last year.  He reminded all uniformed personnel, from the top officials and the men on the ground, to continuously live up to their sworn duty to the nation.
