President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad of Malaysia, together with their respective delegations, renewed and reaffirmed the two nations’ valuable relations as they convened in an expanded bilateral meeting in Malacañan Palace.
In a short statement, President Duterte thanked the Prime Minister for accepting his invitation to visit the country and expressed his hopes that the Philippines and Malaysia continue to open up and find ways to expand new areas of cooperation for a meaningful partnership.
“I am keen to listen to and reflect upon the Prime Minister’s on development between the Philippines and Malaysia, as well as in the region,” the President said.
In response, Prime Minister Mahathir said that his visit not only promotes and further strengthens the relations between the two nations, but it also promotes the cause of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), saying that his visit is an opportunity to discuss issues and areas of cooperation where the two nations can work together and help each other.
