President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and President Maithripala Sirisena of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka convened for an expanded bilateral meeting together with their respective delegations in Malacañan Palace.
In a short statement, President Duterte described the two nations’ bilateral relations as ‘significantly broadened’ in the last few years, wherein he hoped that the Philippines and Sri Lanka continue to expand and deepen its cooperation.
The two leaders discussed several matters concerning areas of mutual interest that included agriculture, economy, and people-to-people exchanges.
President Sirisena is in the Philippines for a five-day State Visit, the first by a Sri Lankan President who is serving as both Head of State and Government.
