Philippine representatives to the International Cheer Union (ICU) 2015 World Cheering Championships had a photo opportunity with President Benigno S. Aquino III at the Heroes Hall of Malacañan Palace.
The group is composed of members coming from the National University (NU) Pep Squad and Miriam College’s Sayawatha Dance Troup. They represented the country in the cheering championships held at Orlando, Florida in the United States of America (USA) last April.
Team Pilipinas, the group composed of both NU and Miriam College representatives, won second place in the All Girl Elite category while the NU Pep Squad and Sayawatha Dance Troup both bagged the third place in the Coed Elite and Team Cheer Hip Hop categories, respectively.
After the photo-op, Carlos Valdes III of the National Cheerleading Championship (NCC), a Philippine cheerleading organization that conducts yearly camps and competitions all over the country, handed over a Philippine team jacket to President Aquino.
The ICU is known as the world governing body of cheerleading. The ICU World Cheering Championships are held annually which is participated by over 70 nations.
