President Benigno S. Aquino III led the Philippine Navy (PN) Change of Command and Retirement Ceremony of Vice Admiral Jose Luis Alano held in Sangley Point, Cavite.

In his keynote address, President Aquino lauded the outgoing Flag Officer-in-Command (FOIC) Vice Admiral Alano for his contributions in securing the welfare of the navy and the Filipino people. During his stint as the navy chief, the BRP Ramon Alcaraz was commissioned and a number of new navy defense vessels were acquired in improving the facilities of the PN. Moreover, at the time when the country was flocked by political conflicts and calamities, the navy led various rescue operations in response to those who called for immediate help and relief.

Meanwhile, the Commander-in-Chief placed his trust to Rear Admiral Jesus Millan that he will exhibit honest leadership as the new FOIC. Prior to his appointment, Rear Admiral Millan was the Commander of Naval Forces in Western Mindanao. He also served as Chief of Naval Staff, Commander of the Naval Reserve Command and Commander Naval Air Group.

Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff General Emmanuel Bautista were also present during the event.
