Headed by Ambassador Christopher B. Montero since March 2015, the mission of the Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh is to ‘advance the interests of the Philippines and the Filipino people in the Kingdom of Cambodia.’

It exercises jurisdiction over Philippine interests in Cambodia and is assisted by the Office of the Defense and Armed Forces attache that handle military and defense cooperation and exchange.

Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Cambodia were formally established in August 1957. The two countries began bilateral dialogue and consultations with the first-ever Joint Commission for Bilateral Consultations held in Phnom Penh on December 8, 2011.

Apart from visit exchanges and dialogues between Philippine and Cambodian officials, several cooperation agreements have been negotiated and signed between the two countries.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte embarked on his first state visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia last December 2016.
