The first Philippine mission originally opened in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on December 23, 1973, but a 1983 Royal Decree of the Saudi Arabia government mandated the transfer of all diplomatic missions in the kingdom from Jeddah to Riyadh.
The Philippine Embassy was finally transferred to Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia on July 1985.
The new Chancery at the Diplomatic Quarter was inaugurated on June 12, 1996, that coincided with the 98th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence.
