President Rodrigo Roa Duterte attended the Philippine Air Force (PAF) Change of Command Ceremony and Retirement Ceremony in honor of Lieutenant General Edgar Fallorina at the Air Force City in Clark Air Base, Pampanga.
The Commander-in-Chief presented the Philippine Legion of Honor (PLOH) with the degree of Commander and the citation to Lt. Gen. Fallorina as the Outgoing PAF Commanding General, and handed over the Command Symbol (Saber) to Lt. Gen. Galileo Gerard Kintanar, Jr., the Incoming PAF Commanding General.
In his message, President Duterte lauded Lt. Gen. Fallorina on his achievements for the PAF, such as the organizational improvements in the Air Force and its contributions in the recent Marawi crisis, saying, “I am confident that the PAF is in good order.”
“I enjoin our troops to continue performing their duties well, especially as martial law remains in effect in Mindanao, and there are persisting threats of terrorism,” added the President.
Likewise, he honored the government troops, especially the fallen soldiers, in the Marawi fighting that lasted for five months, stressing, “We recognize the valor and sacrifices of the PAF personnel who were killed and wounded in action, particularly the casualties caused by the conflict in Marawi City. Rest assured that the Philippines is committed to promote the welfare of all PAF personnel and their loved ones.”
After the retirement ceremony of Lt. Gen. Fallorina who served the PAF for more than three decades, the Philippine Air Force welcomed its new Commanding General, Lt. Gen. Galileo Gerard Kintanar, Jr.
The new ‘Pilot-in-Command’ is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) ‘Sandiwa’ Class of 1985 and served in a number of significant positions within the Philippine Air Force prior to his appointment.
