President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. participated in a solemn mass in honor of his father, the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos, on the occasion of his 105th birth anniversary on 11 September 2022.

In brief remarks, the President conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to all of the attendees in today’s holy mass, especially to their family’s longtime supporters who pay their respects every year to show their love for his departed father. As such, with the overwhelming mandate given to him in the May 2022 national elections, President Marcos Jr. promised to give his best performance throughout his six-year term and fulfill his Administration’s vision for a better Philippines.

Former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos and other members of the Marcos family, as well as relatives, close friends, former Presidential Security Group (PSG) close-in officers and longtime supporters joined the Chief Executive in the mass celebrated at the tomb of ‘Apo Lakay’ at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.

The Office of the President declared a special (non-working) day on 12 September 2022 in the Province of Ilocos Norte to mark the 105th birth anniversary of the late President through Proclamation No. 53, series 2022. It cited that the Office of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan requested that 12 September 2022 (Monday) be declared a special (non-working) day in lieu of 11 September 2022 which falls on a Sunday, in order to enable the people of Ilocos Norte to celebrate and pay its annual tribute to the nation’s 10th President “with appropriate ceremonies, subject to the public health measures of the national government.”
