President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. commemorated the life and legacy of his father, the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos, as he graced the Marcos Day Celebration in Batac, Ilocos Norte.
The event is an annual celebration held in the Province of Ilocos Norte during the birth anniversary of ‘Apo Lakay’ as a fitting tribute to the 10th President of the Philippines.
In his speech during the main program, President Marcos Jr. recognized the service of his father to the nation as honorable and noble, citing that the values he learned from the late President are those that he will use to guide his Administration in leading the country.
“We return to the values of honor, and of duty and of compassion. These are the elements that sometimes we have found lacking in the past few years. And this is our opportunity to return it, not only to the government, but to every part of our society,” President Marcos Jr. stated.
Likewise, he said that his Presidency is a ‘rebirth’ or a beginning of ‘service, honor, dignity, love, compassion, and patriotism’.
“These are the things we learned from Ferdinand Edralin Marcos. These are the things we keep in our heart,” the Chief Executive remarked.
Prior to his homecoming in Ilocos Norte, President Marcos Jr. attended a solemn mass at the tomb of his late father at the Libingan ng mga Bayani with members of the Marcos family and longtime supporters.
