President Rodrigo Roa Duterte welcomed back to the Philippines around 200 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who arrived at the Clark International Airport in Pampanga during the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration’s (OWWA) “Pamaskong Salubong Para sa OFW” program.
In his speech, President Duterte offered to boost the available means of income of OFWs in their hometowns.
“Whatever is doing brisk business in your place, we will try to find out kung paano ito malakasan, how we can help by marketing it,” the President said.
“You go to sa DOLE, doon lang kayo mag-apply. Fill up lang if you have time to go. If you are in the provinces and you get to visit the city, mag-fill up lang kayo or I can require the barangay captains to get it to submit it to you and give it to me kung anong ma-process namin,” he added.
President Duterte also said that the administration’s Build Build Build program needs professionals who can work in the construction industry. He also mentioned opportunities provided by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for those who want to engage in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
A number of OFWs received cash gifts worth Php 50,000 and several appliances packages of varying amounts from the OWWA’s program.
