Preparations are in full swing at Malacañan Palace as Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Sri’ Mohammad Najib Bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak embarks on an official visit to the Philippines. The Malaysian leader together with President Benigno S. Aquino III will witness the historic signing of the 2012 Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro.
The Government of Malaysia served as the facilitator in the 32nd round of Exploratory Talks between the Negotiating Panels of the Government of the Philippines (GPH) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) held on 2-7 October 2012 in Kuala Lumpur. It was in this round of negotiations that both Parties achieved an unprecedented milestone with the forging of the Framework Agreement.
The Office of the President together with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) is ensuring that all things are in place and that all activities have been rehearsed as it warmly welcomes the Malaysian Prime Minister and his spouse to the Philippines. This is to show the country’s deepest appreciation to the Government of Malaysia for its continued support in the facilitation of the GPH-MILF Peace Talks, as well as to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
Full arrival honors will be accorded to the Malaysian Prime Minister in Malacañan Palace. The two leaders will hold a one-on-one meeting to be followed by an expanded bilateral meeting. The signing ceremony of the Framework Agreement is set to take place at the Rizal Hall.
