“If I am to sum up your report, the splendid things that Pag-IBIG has done during what is, unquestionably a banner year, then, without a doubt, ‘it is a labor of love’,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. conveyed as he graced the Pag-IBIG Fund Chairman’s Report 2023 during a program at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
In his keynote address, President Marcos Jr. cited the remarkable accomplishments of the Pag-IBIG Fund last year that included the following: granting home loans totaling PhP126 billion to 96,848 beneficiaries; reaching PhP89.26 billion in membership savings; providing PhP59.32 billion in cash loans to support over 2.65 million members; and achieving a record net income of PhP49.79 billion, a 12% increase from the previous year, noting the record high PhP48.76 billion in dividends to be distributed to its members – marking the highest in its 43-year history.
The President expressed his profound gratitude to all the officials leading Pag-IBIG, as well as to its members and partners, who have skillfully combined growth with sustainability for the welfare of Filipinos.
He underscored that through the combined efforts of the Administration, Pag-IBIG, housing sector and local government units (LGUs), they significantly contributed to transforming housing statistics into homes for numerous Filipinos.
“For instance, we are actively pursuing the implementation of the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program, which aims to address the need for decent housing and to build on the potential impact of a robust sector on the growing economy,” President Marcos Jr. said.
He commended the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and its affiliated organizations for their dedication in addressing the housing needs and reviving the Pasig River as part of the National Housing Authority (NHA) and Pasig River Urban Development Project’s collaborative initiatives.
Likewise, he urged the Pag-IBIG Fund to make home mortgage financing even more accessible and balance sustainability so as to inspire the next generation of Filipinos to acquire their own homes. “Thus, our task is clear: To build the most number of housing units by any administration,” President Marcos Jr. remarked.
The Chief Executive emphasized the four (4) pillars of Pag-IBIG Fund which have been its source of strength and stability: ikaw (you), bangko (bank), industriya (industry) and gobyerno (government).
“This marshalling of the many to build one strong nation is also the cornerstone upon which Bagong Pilipinas is founded… I have always believed that when we are united behind one great purpose, there is nothing that can stop the Filipinos from realizing it,” President Marcos Jr. concluded in his message.
