President Benigno S. Aquino III graced the opening of the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX), the first Public-Private Partnership (PPP) road project awarded under the government’s administration.

The President personally drove through the MCX toll plaza and acquired a toll card that signaled the official opening of the expressway. He was accompanied by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio Singson and Ayala Corporation Chairman and CEO Jaime Zobel de Ayala.

The P2-billion Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway is a project under DPWH in partnership with the Ayala Corporation. It is a 4-kilometer, 4-lane toll road that will serve as an alternative route from Metro Manila to Cavite and vice versa. MCX will cut travel time by an average of 45 minutes and will decongest traffic in Cavite, Las Piñas and Muntinlupa. Toll fees are set at Php 17 for Class 1 vehicles, Php 34 for Class 2 vehicles and Php 51 for Class 3 vehicles.
