President Benigno S. Aquino III was welcomed by Malaysian Prime Minister Yab Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC) for the opening of the 26th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Kuala Lumpur.

Upon arrival at the KLCC, President Aquino was warmly greeted by Prime Minister Razak as the two leaders posed for a photo opportunity before proceeding to the ceremonies.

In his statement, Prime Minister Razak emphasized Malaysia’s vision for this summit: To have a people-centered, strong and united ASEAN that works for the benefit of the citizens within the region and believes in a cooperative engagement with all countries, and to promote regional peace and stability.
