September 3, 2024

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) led the opening ceremony of the 2024 Philippine Creative Industries Month (PCIM), dubbed ‘#WeAreACreativeNation,’ at the Ayala Malls in Quezon City.

This year’s PCIM aims to promote and raise awareness about the role of creative industries in nation-building and socioeconomic advancement, as well as to create an enthusiastic atmosphere for the month ahead.

During the program, the DTI showcased various activities, including the launch of the newly created PCIM website; a talk series featuring prominent and leading Filipinos in the field of creative industries; performances by popular artists; and interactive booths called ‘Activation Spaces’ aiming to inform about the latest government initiatives for the creative industries.

Furthermore, the event is seen as a venue for promoting, exhibiting, holding workshops and sharing knowledge on the roles and unique characteristics of the diverse domains of creative industries, and how each domain fosters creativity in its own distinctive way.

The celebration is in accordance with Republic Act (RA) No. 11904 or the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act signed in July 2022 declaring the month of September every year as the Philippine Creative Industries Month. This Act underscores the national government’s commitment to developing the creative industries and elevating Filipino creativity.
