July 20-23, 2025

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. returns to Washington, D.C., United States of America (U.S.A.) for an official visit on July 20-23, 2025.

The President’s visit is upon the formal invitation of U.S. President Donald J. Trump, making him the first Head of State from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to be hosted by the U.S. leader who assumed office in January this year.

At the top of the agenda is further strengthening the alliance between the two countries, with the Philippines proactively engaging with the U.S. across all aspects of the relationship and seizing opportunities for greater security and economic cooperation. The President will emphasize that the Philippines needs to be more economically robust to be a truly strong partner of the United States.

President Marcos Jr. is scheduled for a bilateral meeting with President Trump where he will tackle the U.S. tariff proposed to be levied on Philippine exports. The two leaders are expected to discuss closer cooperation in economic, defense and security matters of common interest; regional and international issues of common concern; and how to further strengthen people-to-people ties.

Apart from the U.S. President, the Philippine Chief Executive is set to meet with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Several American business leaders whose businesses are already in the process of investing in the Philippines are also set to engage with President Marcos Jr.

As the incoming Chair of the ASEAN Summits in 2026, the President will invite President Trump to attend the East-Asia Summit in the Philippines. The two countries will also mark 80 years of diplomatic relations and 75 years of alliance next year.
