President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. returns to Washington, D.C. in the United States of America to participate in the first Trilateral United States-Japan-Philippines Leaders’ Summit and advance an agenda with both countries that the Philippines shares important strategic defense, security and economic interests.

Bound by a shared vision and pursuit of a peaceful, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific, the President is set to highlight trilateral cooperation as a natural progression of the Philippines’ historical and strong ties with the U.S. and Japan, thereby enhancing coordination and collaboration on common priority areas.

The historic Trilateral Leaders’ Summit will tackle a range of topics such as maritime security and regional issues, further peace and security in the Indo-Pacific Region, inclusive economic growth, economic security by promoting infrastructure development and economic resiliency, trade and investment, advancement of clean energy, climate change cooperation, cybersecurity, developing critical and emerging technologies, and digital economy, amongst other matters.

President Marcos Jr. intends to reaffirm the robust alliance between the Philippines and the United States during the Summit, as well as the Strategic Partnership that it shares with Japan.

The three leaders are expected to issue a Joint Vision Statement, a forward-looking document that identifies common principles that guide the trilateral partnership, as well as specific areas and projects for cooperation building on the robust bilateral cooperation that the Philippines has with the U.S. and Japan.

Apart from the Trilateral Leaders’ Summit, the Chief Executive will be hosted by U.S. President Joseph Biden in a bilateral meeting at the White House and engage in a bilateral meeting with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd James Austin III at the Pentagon. He will also keynote a business forum organized by the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council and U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and grace a business reception hosted by the U.S.-Philippines Society.
