President Benigno S. Aquino III administered the oath taking ceremony to former Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan as the newly appointed Presidential Adviser for Food Security and Agricultural Modernization, with a Cabinet rank.
Pangilinan’s position is similar to the position given to former Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson. Prior to his appointment, the former senator served at the Senate from 2001 to 2013, and was appointed as the chairman of the Senate committee on agriculture and food.
Secretary Pangilinan’s appointment puts him in charge of the National Food Authority (NFA), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA).
