“Our joint heritage is one of our greatest strengths; inspire future generations to carry that forward,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said as he administered the oath of office to 265 newly elected officers of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) at the FFCCCII Building in Binondo, City of Manila.
In his speech, President Marcos Jr. highlighted the organization’s seven (7) decade legacy of service in commerce, education and civic work. He described the FFCCCII as a steadfast partner in nation-building, not through fleeting initiatives but through consistent and meaningful contributions that uplift communities and promote unity across cultural lines.
The ceremony took place against the backdrop of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and China — a milestone the President emphasized as both symbolic and significant.
He noted that the bilateral relationship has been strengthened not only through treaties and agreements but also through shared efforts, ranging from disaster response to cultural exchanges and educational outreach.
The President also acknowledged FFCCCII’s pivotal role in strengthening this partnership, citing grassroots initiatives such as the Operation Barrio Schools which has built more than 6,300 school buildings nationwide with a pledge to deliver an additional 250 in the next two (2) years.
He highlighted recent acts of compassion, including the distribution of 2,000 gift bags to underprivileged families along the Pasig River.
“Hindi po madaling panatilihin ang tiwala at pagkakaisa sa harap ng patuloy na pagbabago. Yet, time and again, your institution has demonstrated that real, inclusive development is possible when anchored on sustained cooperation and shared values,” he said.
Emphasizing the importance of cultural pride, the President spoke about how Chinese-Filipino heritage has become deeply woven into the fabric of Filipino identity.
“Let us continue walking side by side, as we have for generations — moving forward towards a Bagong Pilipinas that is united, progressive, and proudly ours,” President Marcos Jr. concluded in his speech.
