President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. assessed the effects brought by Typhoon ‘Karding’ (international name: Noru) as he led a situation briefing at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
The President stressed the importance of preparation and close coordination with the local government units (LGUs), saying there is “no such thing as overkill” in preparedness efforts to respond to natural calamities. These include good weather forecast from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), conducting preemptive evacuation in high-risk areas, prepositioning of goods in the different LGUs along the path of Typhoon ‘Karding’, and ensuring stockpiles of food and non-food items.
