President Rodrigo Roa Duterte presided over the National Peace and Order Council (NPOC) Meeting and the Joint Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) – Philippine National Police (PNP) Command Conference held at the Heroes Hall of Malacañan Palace.
The NPOC meeting was called pursuant to Section 116 of Republic Act No. 7160 or the ‘Local Government Code of 1991’ and Executive Order No. 773, s. 2009, “which calls for further reorganization of the Peace and Order Council, every province, city, and municipality is mandated to create a peace and order council.” One of the NPOC’s main responsibilities is to formulate plans and recommend measures for the improvement of public safety and peace and order policies in their respective areas of responsibilities.
Upon his arrival, the President administered the oath taking of the new officers of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC). Thereafter, he was given updates by the PNP and AFP on their respective offices’ endeavors in securing the country and in protecting the Filipino people.
This month of March, President Duterte marked his first attendance to the graduation ceremonies of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in Baguio City and the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) in Silang, Cavite as Chief Executive and Commander-in-Chief of the uniformed men and women.
