President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. held a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, D.C., United States of America (U.S.A.).
In a readout by the Office of the Spokesperson of the U.S. Department of State, the meeting of President Marcos Jr. and Secretary Rubio underscored the importance of the ironclad alliance between the Philippines and the United States in maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. Both reaffirmed their shared commitment to deterrence and reinforcing freedoms of navigation and overflight in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
The President and Secretary Rubio exchanged views in advancing their countries’ shared prosperity, including through the Luzon Economic Corridor, by strengthening supply chains and delivering economic growth to both countries.
Likewise, both are looking forward to maintaining regular high-level engagement between the two nations as friends, partners and allies, particularly in light of the 80th anniversary of the Philippines-U.S. diplomatic relations in 2026.
