President’s Hall, Malacañan Palace

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte met with the leaders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) at the President’s Hall in Malacañan Palace.

MILF Chair Al Haj Ebrahim Murad and BTC Chair Ghazali Jaafar were joined by several MILF panel members and BTC commissioners in the meeting.

In brief remarks, President Duterte conveyed his appreciation to the MILF and BTC for accepting his invitation to the said meeting.

According to Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) Secretary Jesus Dureza, the MILF and BTC came to seek the President’s support for the early passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL). He also said that the President wants a comprehensive roadmap in the BBL. Secretary Dureza added that the Philippine government expressed its appreciation to the MILF in dealing with the violent extremism in Mindanao.

The Chief Executive is accompanied by Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, OPAPP Secretary Jesus Dureza, and several members from the Government of the Philippines (GPH) panel members.
