President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. convened with several Cabinet members where he directed the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to reinstate the PhP400 million branding budget for the Department of Tourism (DOT).
In a meeting at Malacañan Palace, the President stressed that the restoration of the DOT’s branding budget is necessary to sustain the momentum in boosting the country’s international image, citing the recent accomplishments of Filipino talents like Olympic gold gymnast Carlos Yulo and The Voice US champion Sofronio Vasquez.
“All of these things that our people are doing that is great for the Philippines. And then we’re still living off the wonderful performance of Filipino health workers during COVID. Hindi na makakalimutan ‘yon,” President Marcos Jr. said.
The PhP400 million branding budget of the DOT will be sourced from the President’s contingency fund.
