President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. met with Prime Minister Petr Fiala of the Czech Republic as he concluded the second day of his official meetings in Prague.
This is the third meeting between the two leaders since the 2022 Commemorative Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) – European Union (EU) in Belgium and the Czech Prime Minister’s official visit to the Philippines in April last year.
President Marcos Jr. conveyed the Philippines’ commitment to work with like-minded countries in Europe such as the Czech Republic in upholding a rules-based international order, as well as seeks more engagements with Czech defense establishments to enhance cooperation on security, defense-industrial and cyber security.
Huge potentials in increasing cooperation on trade and investment, agriculture, labor and climate change were also part of the meeting agenda.
The Chief Executive expressed the Philippines’ interest to strengthen people-to-people ties through tourism and university-to-university linkages.
He also noted the Czech Republic’s interest to hire more Filipinos and cited that the Philippines is ready to cooperate with the Czech government in ensuring the orderly deployment of Filipinos, as well as their smooth integration in their worksites and communities.
