President Benigno S. Aquino III was warmly welcomed by the Cebuanos in Bogo City as he joined the local leaders and their community in a meeting at the Don Celestino Martinez Sr. Sports Complex.

In his speech, the President stated that Cebu is one of the most progressive provinces in the country because of the cooperation of its residents. He said that the province was able to achieve significant changes due to the support of the people themselves. One of this is achieving peace and order as proven by the decrease in the crime rate from 8,429 in 2010 to 5,759 in 2012 with 34.76% resolved cases.

Moreover, government was able to surpass its 112,437 target household beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and reached 117,340 households or 104% of its target. The President added that it was the people who helped the government in building the 18 irrigation projects for the farmers in Argao, San Fernando, Balamban, Consolacion, Sibonga, Moalbal, Dalaguete, Barili, Pinamungahan, Tuburan, Toledo, Cebu and Carcar.

President Aquino also assured the Cebuanos that he will remove erring officials who threatened the beneficiaries that they will be taken out of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. He also emphasized that the development of the country will continue with the cooperation of the local leaders who will support the government through a common goal.

Bogo City is a fourth class town located 100 kilometers from Cebu City and is said to be the transit town for travellers going to Bantayan Island, Malapascua or San Remegio.
