President Benigno S. Aquino III faced the community of Parañaque City where he reported about the positive improvements and development of the city in terms of infrastructure, health services, social services, as well as crime-fighting initiatives.

Starting with the infrastructure projects, President Aquino said that PhP 2.18 billion has been given to the local government to spearhead development plans such as the flood control projects which amount to PhP 1.26 billion. These include the improvement of the drainage system and the clearing and slope protection of the Parañaque River.

On social services, the President said that Parañaque City never had beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in 2010; but as the government continues to aid Filipinos below the poverty line, a total of 8,059 households in Parañaque are now benefitting from the 4Ps this year.

To further improve health services in the country, President Aquino reported that a budget of PhP 53.4 million has been granted to the local government to improve its urban health centers. On the other hand, PhilHealth members in the city boosted to 609,543 members, comprising the 93 million members nationwide.

President Aquino added that Oplan “Lambat-Sibat,” which aims to fight crime in the country, has reduced crime incidents around the National Capital Region (NCR) to 75%. In fact, 2,389 of the most wanted persons in Metro Manila have been arrested since Oplan “Lambat-Sibat” started.
