President Benigno S. Aquino III mentioned one-by-one the government’s priority projects and programs for the province of Laguna during his meeting with the province’s local leaders and its community held in the city of Calamba.

Among these are various infrastructure projects that include the concreting of the Lipa-Alaminos Road, the construction of Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), and the widening of Manila South Road, Sta. Rosa-Ulat-Tagaytay Road and San Pedro Bridge from two lanes to four lanes. There are also plans to revive the South Luzon Expressway Toll Road 4 and the North-South Railway Project South Line which is one of the oldest rail system in Southeast Asia.

President Aquino reported that from 2010 to 2015, there are already a total of 34,781 graduates under the Training for Work Scholarship Program of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

In Laguna alone, there are 2.56 million beneficiaries of PhilHealth. The total number of its members in the country is currently 93 million Filipinos.

For the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), there are 44,553 beneficiaries coming from Laguna. President Aquino said that through this program, there are now 7.7 million Filipinos who are out of the poverty line.
