President Benigno S. Aquino III met with the local leaders and residents of Iloilo.
In his remarks, the President mentioned some of the government’s contributions in the development of the province. For instance, a total of P26.13 billion was allotted for infrastructure from 2011-2016, compared to the P9.22 billion budget from 2005-2010. Several world-class parks, roads and other facilities were also built for the convenience of local residents and tourists.
He also cited a few of the administration’s achievements for the continuing reform and progress of the country. These included the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) 4.4 million housing beneficiaries for its Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation’s (PhilHealth) coverage that has been widened to 91% from 51% in 2010.
“Malinaw po: Hindi tayo nagbakasyon at tumunganga, para hintayin lang bumagsak ang anumang bunga. Bagkus, inaral natin nang husto ang pinaka-ugat ng bawat problema, kumayod tayo para maisaayos ang mga ito, at ngayon, tinatamasa na nga natin ang mga positibong bunga nito,” President Aquino said.
