President Benigno S. Aquino III met with the international business executives at the sidelines of his official visit in Switzerland for the World Economic Forum (WEF). Organized by the Ayala Corporation, around 32 delegates from multinational companies around the globe convened to share their insights and listen to the President’s message as the Philippines is currently in a global spotlight politically and economically.
In his short statement, President Aquino emphasized three priority sectors that would welcome more investments for the country: tourism, agriculture and infrastructure. According to the President, these areas are already exhibiting rapid growth and have shown resilience and strength over the past years.
He also invited the global business leaders to join him in his administration’s endeavors and consider partnering with the Philippines towards mutual profit, saying that “those who have already bet on the Philippines have not been disappointed; they have seen the sincerity of our commitment to restoring integrity and leveling the playing field. This is a commitment we intend to keep with all who want to conduct honest, fair business in the Philippines. And while we cannot promise you a completely risk-free environment — as leaders of industry, you know that any worthwhile endeavor is not without its risks —what we offer you today is a Philippines where change has set in. That, perhaps, is the single most compeling reason to come in and invest in our country.”
