President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. began the second day of his Official Visit to Washington, D.C. in the United States of America by meeting with Dr. Francesco Venneri, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation (USNC).
The two previously met in May 2023 during the President’s first visit to the U.S. capital wherein Dr. Venneri expressed interest to bring clean and reliable nuclear energy to the Philippines.
Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation (USNC) is a U.S.-based firm global leader and vertical integrator of nuclear technologies and services. Its micro modular reactor (MMR) energy system is a fourth generation nuclear energy system that seeks to deliver safe, clean and cost-effective electricity to users. The MMR is considered the first ‘fission battery’ in commercialization.
USNC envisions the Philippines as its first nuclear energy facility in Southeast Asia and supports the Marcos Administration in its efforts to provide sufficient and unhampered supply of energy throughout the country while utilizing clean and renewable energy sources in the future.
Waqar Zaide (USNC Senior Vice President, Commercial and Structured Financing for Microreactor Deployment), Antonio Habana (President, Equinet Architectural and Engineering Support) and Ramon Cruz accompanied Dr. Francesco Venneri in the meeting.
From the Philippine side, House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Raphael Lotilla, Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Ralph Recto, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual, Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) President and General Manager Jose Arnulfo Veloso, and Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez joined the Chief Executive.
