President Rodrigo Roa Duterte held a meeting with the National Food Authority (NFA) Council at the President’s Hall in Malacañan Palace.

During the meeting, President Duterte stressed the perennial problem of rice supply shortage and the possible ways of addressing the said issue.

The NFA Council is mandated to safeguard the food security of the country through stabilizing the supply and price of grain rice, one of the country’s staple food. It also aims to promote the integrated growth and modernization of the rice and corn marketing industry to enable it to compete in the global market.
