President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. joined his fellow leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at a luncheon meeting hosted by the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) in Tokyo, Japan.
Keidanren, led by Chairman Masakazu Tokura, is a comprehensive economic organization with a membership of 1,512 representative companies of Japan, 107 nationwide industrial associations and regional economic organizations for all 47 prefectures (as of April 1, 2023). On the other hand, the JCCI, led by its 20th Chairman Ken Kobayashi, is a network of comprehensive local economic organizations composed of the representatives of member businesses nationwide, from large and medium-sized corporations down to small firms and sole proprietors.
President Marcos Jr. met with JCCI Chairman Kobayashi in October this year, during which he acknowledged Japan as the Philippines’ largest trading partner and top source of approved foreign investments, while also recognizing the continuous assistance of the Japanese government in sectors such as infrastructure development.
