The Louvre Museum is one of the largest art museums and the most visited in the world. It long served as one of the main residences of the kings of France and became a museum in 1793. Louvre has over 30,000 works of art that are on display, including Mona Lisa and Venus the Milo, the oldest of which date back over seven thousand years.

The collections are divided into eight departments: the Department of Egyptian Antiquities; Greek, Etruscan and Roman Antiquities; Oriental Antiquities; Islamic Art; Paintings; Sculptures; Decorative Arts and Prints and Drawings.
