SMX Convention Center, Pasay City
7 August 2013
President Benigno S. Aquino III encouraged the Philippine and international agriculture industry players to take part and build networks at the Livestock Philippines 2013 Expo and Conference being held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. He believes that through the event, stakeholders will find ways to help each other and profit in due time.
As he spoke in front of over 200 investors from 20 countries, the President explained that “food security is not just about ensuring the stability of supply. It is just as much about public health and safety. After all, while modernization allows stakeholders to become even more efficient, this also entails higher standards in maintaining the health of animals, the safety of end products and consumers, and the welfare also of the environment.”
With the theme “Food Security through Feeds Safety: Its Impact on Livestock Production Efficiency,” the two-day expo and conference highlights the significance of animal feeds in animal production as well as the health and nutrition of the general public. As Agriculture Assistant Secretary Dr. Davinio Catbagan said in his welcome remarks, the event is vital in sustaining the economic development that the Philippines currently enjoys by encouraging foreign enterprises to invest in the country and stimulate growth among local industries.
The Livestock Philippines 2013 Expo and Conference is hosted by the Department of Agriculture and is being participated by government officials and representatives, and international trade exhibitors from Netherlands, France, Canada, USA, China, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia.
