President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. successfully launched the Free Public Wi-Fi site at the MacArthur Landing Memorial National Park in Palo, Leyte, reaffirming the Administration’s commitment to making reliable internet access available to every Filipino as part of its broader push for inclusive digital transformation.
This milestone followed the grand launch of the National Fiber Backbone (NFB) Phases 2 and 3 which aims to deliver faster and more stable internet connectivity across the country — unlocking new opportunities in global markets, remote work and digital learning platforms.
During a virtual interaction with remote communities, teachers, students and local officials conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to President Marcos Jr. for the Free Wi-Fi for All Program, highlighting its vital role in enhancing youth education and digital access.
Participating schools were from the Provinces of Tawi-Tawi, Batanes, Marawi, Zambales and Cotabato City.
Spearheaded by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the program is expected to benefit more than 9.8 million users across 1,401 cities and municipalities, including 3,040 geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs) — bridging the digital divide and fostering inclusive economic growth nationwide.
