TESDA Complex, Taguig City
July 30, 2019
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the launching of 911 TESDA at the Multi-Purpose Covered Court within the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Complex in Taguig City.
The 911 TESDA is a free web-based linking program or app that aims to provide employment opportunities for TESDA graduates and where TESDA services can be availed online by individuals, households and enterprises.
Upon arrival, President Duterte conducted a walkthrough of the nine (9) digital online service providers (DOSPs) on display in the venue. During the program proper, TESDA Director General Secretary Isidro Lapeña made a presentation on the 911 TESDA and a ceremonial service booking that the Chief Executive confirmed to formally launch the 911 TESDA app.
“It is my hope that by providing an efficient, dependable, and reliable means of job application, matching and hiring, we will be able to promote ease in doing business and, at the same time, augment our workers’ income and increase the demand for employment in automotive, electronics, transport, logistics, and other vital services,” the President said in his message.
He conveyed his appreciation to TESDA’s industry partners for making the 911 TESDA possible and expressed his hopes that they would continue working with the government to attain the common goal of producing well-trained Filipinos who would eventually “become agents of positive transformation in their respective sectors.”
“As we forge a strong network of services and job linkages in public and private Technical Vocational Institutions, I am hopeful that our TVET students and graduates all over the country will successfully land jobs that will best suit their skills and qualifications,” President Duterte added.
TESDA graduates and certified workers need to be accredited by the DOSPs for them to be included in the 911 TESDA. When the app is tapped for service, the DOSP would look for the registered worker nearest the area or vicinity. TESDA graduates have the option to work either full time or part time with the DOSP. The app is initially available in the National Capital Region (NCR) but TESDA plans to make this available nationwide.
TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez, Senator Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go, and House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano joined President Duterte onstage during the event.
