President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and President Petr Pavel of the Czech Republic delivered their respective statements as both leaders held a joint press conference after their bilateral meeting at the Prague Castle.
In his statement, President Marcos Jr. cited the productive meeting that he had with his counterpart, noting the huge potential of cooperation in various areas of mutual interest and opportunities for future partnerships with the Czech Republic in trade and investment, agriculture, green economy and renewable energy, space and aerospace, education, tourism, defense, cybersecurity and labor, to name a few.
He conveyed his optimism that his visit will be able to attract more Czech traders and investors to do business in the country, apart from highlighting the Philippines’ remarkable economic performance.
The Chief Executive also shared that he and President Pavel had a candid and frank exchange of views on various regional and international issues of mutual concern, such as the latest developments in the West Philippine Sea and South China Sea where he underscored that the country’s position remains consistent, clear and firmly anchored in the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
He expressed his appreciation to the Czech Republic’s support as a like-minded partner in upholding peace, stability and the rules-based international order.
President Marcos Jr. stated that his visit reaffirms the Philippines’ commitment to further cultivating the bonds and friendship with the Czech Republic, invigorating the ongoing celebration of the 50th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties.
