Busan, South Korea

Formed in the late 19th century, Jagalchi Market is South Korea’s largest seafood market that offers live or raw and dried fish of various kinds, and other edible sea creatures sprawling at the stalls of the market’s narrow lanes. It is the source of a big percentage of seafood being distributed in South Korea.
The famous fish market is teeming with street restaurants that offer the area’s famous fresh seafood delicacies. Jagalchi Market’s ‘Pojangmacha’ or tented restaurants sell seafood dishes that are mostly not available anywhere else in South Korea such as briquette-roasted sea eels, whale meat, raw fish, among others.
During the Jagalchi Festival in October, the number of visitors in the market increases drastically as people come to take part in different events and taste the area’s unique seafood dishes.
