President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was interviewed by the Japanese media after he delivered a joint statement with the Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines at Malacañan Palace.

In the interview, the President expressed his desire to strengthen the ties between Japan and the Philippines. He also discussed international issues concerning both countries such as their relationships with China, industrial progress and developing infrastructures to hasten growth.

The President is scheduled to visit Japan on October 25, 2016 to meet with Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and open discussions for further cooperation between the two countries.
