Dr. Emely Abagat has been working as an Educator, Researcher, Trainer, Missionary and Counsellor in South Korea for nine years. She is a professor at the Social Welfare Department of the Catholic University of Daegu City and Chairperson of the Philippine Resource Persons Group (Phil-RPG), an organization of Filipino professors in Korea.  She serves as an advisor to a group called Pinoy Iskolars sa Korea (PIKO), which holds activities to promote the welfare of Filipino university students in Korea, and also does volunteer work at the Hyewadong Filipino Catholic Community.

She is a 2010 Outstanding Filipino Overseas awardee by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO).
