Recognizing the importance of the youth in building the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Community, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte held an interface meeting with the other nine ASEAN Heads of State/Government and representatives of the ASEAN Youth at the Summit Hall D, Delegation Building of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

In his statement, the President recognized the gathering as a venue where the youth can share ideas with the ASEAN leaders in addressing issues that concern them.

With the thematic priority of the Philippines’ chairmanship of the ASEAN Summits this year, the interface serves as an opportunity for the ASEAN youth in enhancing their role in the ASEAN community building process.

“I fully believe that our youth play a dynamic and vital role in realizing a peaceful and stable economically integrated, and socially responsible ASEAN,” President Duterte said.
