President Benigno S. Aquino III led the inspection of the Far North Luzon General Hospital and Training Center (FNLGHTC) at Barangay Quirino in Luna, Apayao.

Formerly a four-room public school building, FNLGHTC received a total of Php 49.58 million under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program for infrastructure and equipment upgrades from 2011 to 2014. At the moment, FNLGHTC is the only Level 1 core referral hospital in Apayao with patients coming all the way from Cagayan and Ilocos Norte.

President Aquino toured the facility and was accompanied by Health (DOH) Secretary Janette Garin, Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson, Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) Head Manuel “Manny” Mamba, and Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mel Seren Sarmiento.
