Following his lenten season inspections at the Batangas Port and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, President Benigno S. Aquino III proceeded to NAIA Terminal 1.
Upon arrival at the Departure Area, President Aquino took the entrance for push carts to assess the ongoing repair and renovation works, as well as the operations and security set-up, including the passenger volume, traffic airport security and assistance measures.
Afterwhich, in a walking-briefing by Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilio “Jun” Abaya, Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager MGen. Jose Angel Honrado (ret.) and NAIA Terminal 1 Manager Dante Basanta, the President passed by several check-in counters, immigration counters, conveyors and other facilities in the following areas — Departure Lobby, Immigration Area, Passengers’ Pre-boarding Area and Arrival Area.
Simultaneously on this visit, the expected passenger volume between 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm constitutes 186 departing passengers from Japan Airlines and 310 arriving passengers from Malaysian Airlines and China Airlines. An additional 723 passengers are expected of the next three flights from Royal Brunei Airlines, Malaysian Airlines and Saudia between 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
