Compostela Valley

President Benigno S. Aquino III inspected the Gawad Kalinga Village in Laak, Compostela Valley, a modified core-shelter assistance project spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to help those affected by the devastation brought about by Typhoon Pablo in the region last year.

More than 600 houses were already built for the families who have suffered during the course of the typhoon. However, there are still about 27,000 more houses which are being constructed that will aid an estimate of 19,000 families affected in Compostela Valley. This is under the Emergency Shelter Assistance Program of DSWD.

In his speech, President Aquino reminded the people of Laak on how responsive the government is in times of calamities, saying the government will not forget its responsibilities to its citizens. He assured the people that every action and aid made for the victims will be a long term solution for the benefit of all those affected.

This holiday season, the President reminded everybody of how the whole Filipino nation survived all the disasters that struck the country these past months. He wished everyone to always show what the Filipino spirit is all about.

“Ang pagkakaisa, ang pagmamalasakit, at ang pagdadamayan. Huwag sana tayong magsawang kumayod at makiambag sa pagtaguyod ng bansa, at tiwala po ako, maaabot na natin ang Pilipinas na ating inaasam,” President Aquino said.
