President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the incineration of 1,530.647 kilograms of seized illegal drugs worth PhP9.48 billion at Clean Leaf International Corporation — a duly registered waste management facility located in Barangay Cutcut, Capas, Tarlac.

In his brief remarks, the President emphasized that the destruction of illegal substances reflects the government’s firm commitment to transparency in its ongoing anti-drug campaign.

“Dahil kailangan tiyakin natin na ‘yung mga nahuhuling drugs ay talagang sinisira at wala nang pag-asa na bumalik pa, na maibenta pa, na makuha, ire-report. At alam naman natin kung ano ‘yung mga ibang pangyayari na nakikita natin,” he said.

He noted that the entire destruction procedure takes approximately 24 hours, with both the incineration and cooling stages lasting 10 to 12 hours each.

Following the incineration, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) will conduct on-site confirmatory testing to verify that all illegal substances have been fully destroyed. Should any traces remain, the incineration process is repeated.

“So, I’m glad that the press is here para makita ninyo kung ano ba talaga ang sistema. I am also happy that I was able to get the opportunity na makapunta rito para makita ko rin ang buong sistema from the capture, all the way until its destruction,” President Marcos Jr. stated.

The destroyed illegal substances were intercepted through various anti-drug operations carried out by PDEA in coordination with other law enforcement agencies. These drug exhibits were no longer required as court evidence, allowing for their prompt destruction following the resolution of related cases.

In the case of the recovered floating shabu — where no suspects were apprehended and no criminal charges were filed — the destruction was based on a sworn certification issued by PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez in accordance with Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Regulation No. 1, series of 2002.
