“Rest assured that the government remains committed in nurturing an environment that upholds the total well-being of our people, of course, with the continued support of our private partners and investors in healthcare,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reaffirmed as he urged the private sector and government to continue strengthen collaboration in prioritizing healthcare for every Filipino.

The President made these remarks during the inauguration of the Healthway Cancer Care Hospital (HCCH) in Taguig City, where he underscored that the establishment of the facility is a significant move to further improve access to quality cancer care for the country.

“With the help of the HCCH, we can revolutionize the cancer care services industry in the Philippines through modern and state-of-the-art equipment, coupled with leading medical professionals and oncologists,” he conveyed, noting that this is a first step in reflecting the Philippines’ growing potential as a leading healthcare destination in Asia.

President Marcos Jr. considered the partnership with the private sector as vital, which is also aligned with the Philippine Health Facility Development Plan and the Integrated Cancer Program that are geared towards achieving the goals of universal healthcare.

He added that healthcare should and will always be a priority of the Administration. He encouraged Filipinos to get regular check-ups in community-based health centers, stating further that nothing else matters if they don’t take good care of their well-being.

Likewise, the Chief Executive urged the public to maximize the government’s existing programs, services and facilities for cancer care, as the Administration takes significant steps in making healthcare more accessible to the people. Currently, there are 25 Specialty Centers in cancer care in select Department of Health (DOH) hospitals nationwide.

“We recognize that there are great financial burdens of cancer treatments. So to ease the hardship of cancer patients and provide equitable access to healthcare, we have also established the Cancer Assistance Fund, which will pay for the cost of cancer diagnostics and laboratories not covered by PhilHealth,” he said.

“Let us work hand in hand as we take on the challenges in public health and deliver quality medical services to our people all over the country,” President Marcos Jr. concluded in his remarks.
