As part of government’s continuous support to State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), President Benigno S. Aquino III led the inauguration of Bicol University’s newly established Health Sciences Building Phases 1 and 2 and launching of Doctor of Medicine – Master in Public Administration (MD-MPA) Program held in Daraga, Albay.
President Aquino emphasized in his remarks that such concrete improvements compliment government’s goals in providing quality education in the country. Although not every student succeeds in the field of medicine, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) provides close guidance and attention in schools with low passing rates.
Similarly, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), CHED and the Department of Education work hand-in-hand to address problems in job-skills mismatch and in making certain that students will be trained accordingly in their desired fields.
“Isa na naman po itong positibong hakbang, kung saan nagtutulungan ang ating lokal at pambansang gobyerno, sampu ng ating mga kabataan, na magtayo ng sentro ng karunungan para sa ating kabataan,” the President said.
In the Bicol region alone, this is the first college of medicine being administered by the government.
