President Benigno S. Aquino III led the inauguration of the Solaire Resort and Casino in Paranaque City.
The first to be built in the government sponsored economic development zone, known as the Entertainment City, by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), Solaire welcomed its doors as President Aquino led its formal opening.
In his speech, President Aquino said that the rise of Solaire is proof that it is indeed more fun in the Philippines where there is a balance between work and play. He said that the establishment will not only be fun for the coming guests but also for the Filipinos as it will create additional jobs.
He added that the entertainment establishment will also encourage more tourists in the country which is essential in the advancement of the economy. The President also took the opportunity to express his satisfaction in the rise of the Philippines ranking in the World Economic Forum Travel and Tourism Index where the country jumped to 82nd from 94th place.  He was also pleased to report the recent lifting of the Significant Safety Concern issued by the International Aviation Organization (IAO) to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
Solaire Resort and Casino, which is said to change the way people will view resort casinos in Manila, is a flagship project of Bloomberry Resort Corporation which is one of the country’s most prominent industry leaders. The resort and casino houses 500 luxurious rooms, suites, bay side villa, spa facility, 300 gaming tables and 1200 slot machines that is said will pamper its guests.
